poem: Garbageman
This was inspired by a sight I saw on a recent bus trip to college.
Garbageman He hops uncertainly onto a mechanical busstumbles a littlesits down with slight anxiety, the garbageman looks around him, sees a stylish woman with a vulgar gold bag beside him, automatically shifting just the tiniest inch awayas if the invisible germs and bacteria on himwould leap and gnash their teeth upon her Crabtree & Evelyn-lotioned arm,he is garbed in a dusty long-sleeved green shirtfaded dirty-white captypical clothes of a garbageman,But oh, what a curious sight are his feet;his feet are snug tight in a small pair of white Bata school shoes.Labels: poetry
